The Remergence Interview
We have recently been interviewed, we can't say who by just yet, but here is a copy of the interview..
Remergence has been getting quite popular with fans on the internet lately, so we caught up with Karen and JJ to give them a thorough grilling.
Interviewer: So how did you come up with the name Remergence?
Karen - I was listening to a classic Pink Floyd track one day and there it was and I just liked the sound of it.
Interviewer: How did you first get together?
Karen - It was a case of bumping into each other really, I was chatting about music and some of my favorite bands and JJ had some of the same musical tastes.
Jake - That's right, God that must going back about eight or so years now, but I didn't actually "join" Remergence until 2002 as the production side of the Futurism album, and we've been working together ever since.
Interviewer: What have been your influences over the years?
Jake - A bit of everything really, life the universe and everything in between (laughs)
Karen - The same really, our music sometimes shows the frames of mind we are currently in when we do them.
Interviewer: Karen did you have any inspiration after your hospital stay early this year?
Karen - Now that is a bizarre question, not really no, after been on my back for a week and then getting home and not been able to do anything for five to six weeks I had other things on my mind, but I did manage to catch up on paper work (laughs)
Jake - She's always been a busy bee and it was hard to keep her settled, all I kept hearing was, "I'm climbing the walls" (laughs)
Interviewer: So how are things now?
Karen - Life is just wonderful and you certainly now who your friends are when you go through such a change, Jake has been very supportive and so has nearly everyone else I know, you always get the odd few that don't understand the situation though.
Jake - I've known Karen for many years now before and after, I can quite honestly say that we get on like a house on fire.
Interviewer: Back to the music, how's it going with the new album?
Jake - It's been a slow process on the new album, we both decided to take our time on this one, especially that on this one, I'm doing some of the tracks myself, as well as working together on tracks, so we just wanted the album to be special.
Karen - JJ is doing a brilliant job on some of the tracks I've heard, "Probably" was released on the net and it's been a very popular track, JJ's first solo track.
Jake - It was also remixed by our good friends ESI as an extended mix and that's doing quite well also.
Interviewer: ESI! Now we have often wondered what that stand for?
Jake & Karen together - Eric, Samson and Iggy (laughs)
Interviewer: So how come you are taking a slight backseat on this album then Karen?
Karen - I've been building up the reputation and promoting the artists on our own label "Atom Sounds" I've also been uploading a new forum for artists and bands, so that's taken up most of my time.
Interviewer: Atom Sounds, tell us more.
Jake - Well it was originally started for Remergence as a foot old, but it just grew and we now have so many artists that I've lost count.
Interviewer: So your making millions with the label then?
Karen - God no! The label is a promotion engine more than anything else, the artists that we have on the label are not under contract and can do as they wish, the label is free to those on it and we just help promote their music, it's non-profit, the only profit we make is from the adverts and affiliates.
Interviewer: So what does the future hold and will we see you live?
Jake - More music, we'll keep going as long as we both enjoy it, as for seeing us live, you just never know.
Karen - Yeah, more music and fun (laughs), live, never really thought of it really, but as JJ said you just never know.
Interviewer: Thank you both for your time and we'll keep listening to you..
